The program
covers: personal hygiene, conversations, introductions,
telephone and Internet use, table manners, behavior for
ladies and gentlemen, manners in public, serving as a host
and being a guest. We devote a segment to each subject,
so viewers can watch one subject at a time, or play the
entire video. While any student will find it
entertaining and helpful, the video should be especially
effective for young people who don't easily pick up social
skills by themselves, but need clear, specific examples
of appropriate
manners and behaviors.
A
little fun can go a long way in helping your children add
social skills to their overall life skills.

Standing
too close to people can make them uncomfortable. It's good
to stand about 18 inches away from people when you speak
with them.
(From "Conversations" section of video.) |
The DVD's PERSONAL HYGIENE
section demonstrates how proper sneezing and coughing techniques and
frequent hand washing can reduce the spread of germs and flu
virus.
Because we're describing,
demonstrating and reviewing specific situations, the video is also
attuned to the way many children with social skill deficits need to
absorb information. Click
here to learn more about how this video can be used in a program to
help children with conditions such as Asperger Syndrome and High
Functioning Autism master basic social skills.
So if you want your children to be
comfortable and confident in dealing with people, this video can give
them concrete ways to help make that happen.
(Europe and Australia use the PAL video standard. This NTSC video will play in "dual
format" DVD and VHS players designed to accommodate both NTSC and PAL
videos.)

COMMENTS
"Just a quick note to say thank you for making the Manners video.
My students loved it and learned so much from it. You have made a
quality product and I look forward to any other videos you will be
promoting in the future."
Teacher
Just wanted to let
you know that we received the (Manners) video and have watched it
several times. My son is 12 and loves the humor! He likes it so much
he wants to show it to his weekly social skills club. As a parent
I think the video is very well done and a great resource for
families like ours. I would definitely recommend it to others.
Parent
"Thank you for the (Manners) video. I am very happy with it. I used
it to teach a group of young people at my local church, the elders
and leaders were very pleased with it. I was delighted to know
that your language, style and humor were universal to all young
people regardless of their walks in life. Thank you very much
and let me know when you have other programs we can use."
Teacher
"I want to thank you for making such a great video! We recently
purchased the "Manners for the Real World" video for our son who was
diagnosed with Asperger Syndrome. It was great for our 8 year old
too. It was just what I have been looking for. We plan on
watching it over and over."
Parent
"Thank you for
producing and making available the wonderful video "Manners for the
Real World." My high-functioning autistic son, his sister, and I
have been working our way through it (with practice sessions) this
summer."
Parent
"I ordered your video "Manners for the Real World" for my friend who
teaches at a special ed school in Dallas. I wanted to let you
know that it is a big hit with the teachers and kids at the school.
They have been working on table manners, and the video is just what
they have been looking for."
Educational Software Producer
"We have an
18 year old son with AS and yesterday I purchased and previewed
your manners video. It is wonderful! You are providing an
amazing and as I'm sure you know, desperately needed service. Thank
you so much."
Parent
I have shown parts
of the Manners video (usually either hygiene or conversation)
all over the place recently. Everyone LOVES it.

I want to
compliment you on the Manners for
the Real World video. I'm a parent of a teenage son with
Asperger's as well as a documentary producer and found the
program clear, well structured and perfect for its audience. My
son loved the wrong behaviors with the buzzer and was able to
recognize some of his own foibles and laugh at himself. Parent
