Library Journal Recommends Autism Sibling DVD

For Immediate Release: Monday, February 18, 2008

Winston-Salem, NC – Understanding Brothers and Sisters on the Autism Spectrum, a DVD produced by Coulter Video, has been recommended in the February 15, 2008 edition of the Library Journal. The Library Journal is the country’s most influential and largest circulation magazine for librarians.  The Coulter Video DVD is designed for families of people who are affected with forms of autism that range from mild to severe.

Here are some excerpts from the publication’s review, written by Corey Seeman:

“… a great resource for families who have children with an autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and siblings who are neurotypical (NT). The DVD is divided into four programs, three geared toward children of various ages and one for parents.

The filmmakers brilliantly use interviews with NT siblings and parents to document the issues that exist among family members…

…The programs geared toward children provide excellent modeling behavior…

… interviewees show maturity beyond their years and provide pointers and coping mechanisms that will help viewers better understand their siblings…

…strongly recommended for all libraries...”

The entire review is available on the Library Journal’s website at: http://www.libraryjournal.com/article/CA6529613.html?q=autism.

This DVD is one of the most recent productions by Coulter Video, which offers a range of titles, primarily about Asperger Syndrome and autism.  These programs can be previewed and purchased online at www.coultervideo.com.
