Asperger Awareness DVD Re-Released with Spanish, Japanese and English Subtitles

For Immediate Release: Friday, January 28, 2011

WINSTON-SALEM, NC – The popular English language DVD “Intricate Minds: Understanding Classmates with Asperger Syndrome” has been re-released with optional Spanish, Japanese, and English subtitles.  The program gives middle and high school students an inside perspective of what it’s like to have Asperger Syndrome or “AS.”  It shows the rewards of looking past differences to see what classmates with AS are really like.  Because students with Asperger Syndrome tend to have normal to superior intelligence, they are usually placed in mainstream classrooms.

The subtitled version makes the DVD accessible to people who speak Spanish or Japanese, as well as English speakers who are deaf or hard of hearing, are learning English as a second language, or are visual learners.

The School Library Journal's review of the video reads, in part, "Students with Asperger Syndrome (AS), the high end of the autism spectrum, talk about how they think and feel, and about their behavior classmates may find quirky, in this excellent film.  The narrator, a college student with AS, explains that their brains are wired differently and they often have difficulty with social interactions because they don’t recognize body language or other social cues, even though they may be highly intelligent…Ten articulate AS students talk poignantly about difficulties with ordinary interaction, as well as their strengths and interests…"

The re-released DVD was produced by Coulter Video and is available from the company’s website: www.coultervideo.com for $29.99 plus shipping and handling. An online preview of the DVD is available on the website, which also features free articles about Asperger Syndrome and other autism spectrum conditions.  The direct link to the DVD's product page is: http://www.coultervideo.com/video/114/intricate-minds-understanding-classmates-asperger-syndrome-dvd
